The movie that started it all, this film has become a cult classic. In addition, Behind the Green Door is the film that launched the illustrious career of the All-American Ivory Snow girl, Marilyn Chambers.

It is the story of two people who would ordinarily never meet. Barry Clark, played by porn veteran George McDonald, is a bachelor from a small town in California who comes to San Francisco to broaden his sexual experiences. Taken by a friend to a private nightclub in the City's North Beach district, he witnesses the ravishment of a woman who has been kidnapped and then loved as never before. The woman, Gloria Saunders (Marilyn Chambers) is prepared for the ultimate female fantasy by six scantily robed women who arouse and titillate her until she is ready to accommodate an extraordinarily equipped black stud, Johnnie Keyes.

He makes love to her with an exuberance and passion never seen before by the spectators who crowd the nightclub. They watch with a growing excitement, but this is still only a prelude to the ultimate experience to come. When Gloria is placed among three studs on a trapeze for a bizarre climax of sexual passion, the members of the audience become so aroused that they join in with the performers on stage. Barry, amidst all the emotion, rescues the exhausted Gloria from the club and they take off on their own, making way for the next ceremonial ravishment to occur.
